This past weekend me and my aunt went to a two day quilt class.
Our teacher was Barbara Dwyer FABULOUS TEACHER....she was awesome...!!!
The first clown quilt with the black trim is my Aunt's and the next one with the teal trim is mine!

Now all that needs to be done is applique the clown down and finish the backing. I am so ready for another power class this was two days straight whewwwww.

Please Note: Beginner Pattern----
This hat is knitted flat then sewn along the seam line – very easy to do with this yarn!!
Advanced Knitters can easily adapt this pattern to knit in the round.

Caution: This yarn is very stretchy/elastic while you are knitting please do not to pull too tightly or you will lose the stretchiness of this hat.

Size: Once Size Fits Adult Head (very stretchy hat)

Materials: 1 Ball Red Heart Curly Q 150yards (this hat was made specifically for this yarn due to the stretchiness of the yarn I am not sure how other yarns will knit up)
US10 and US 17 straight needles, needle to sew seams, tape measure.

Gauge: Is not too important since this is very stretchy. I had 4sts to the inch on the ribbing and about 2.5 sts to the inch on the stockinette.

Cast On 72sts with US10
(right side)Row 1: P1, *K1, P2* repeat from * to * across to end with K1, P1
Row 2: K1, *P1, K2* repeat from * to * across to end with P1, K1.
Repeat last two rows for 2 ½ inches.
Beginning with right side row change to US17 and knit in stockinette until hat measures 6 inches from cast on edge.

Shaping Decreases.
Starting on wrong side (which is the purl side)
Row1: P9, P3tog to end.
Row 2: Knit Acress
Row 3: P8, P3tog, *P7, P3tog* repeat from * to * end P2tog.
Row 4: Knit Acress
Row 5: P7, P3tog *P5, P3tog* repeat from * to * end P2tog.
Row 6: Knit Acress
Row 7: P1, P3tog, P2, P3tog, *P3, P3tog* repeat from * to* end P2tog.
Row 8: Knit Across
Row 9: P3, P3tog, *P1, P3tog* repeat from * to * end P2tog.

Thread yarn through remaining 7sts pull tight and secure.

Just got back from watching the new movie "Social Network" my son who is 13yrs and me who is well almost 32 yrs in a few more days. We both have facebook accounts my account is to play farmville LOL and my son's account is to stay caught up with his friends and check out stupid things that people post about.

This movie is basically how facebook was invented/started and by who and what kind of happened to get to today's point.

There was nothing exciting about this movie it was a basic like autobiography. The cool thing about this movie is if your into facebook even just a little bit this movie was interesting! I loved finding out the who what where and how it all came together just makes me wish I invented it myself!!

So if you even glance at facebook every so often you will probably enjoy this movie, I also think I would have enjoyed reading the book even more.

Balaclava Jack O Lantern

This is a 70's ski mask or balaclava! My son thought this was funky enough to wear this winter. So I am test knitting it out of some cheap stash yarn to see how it turns out then I can re-knit it and make adjustments as needed so with the yarn on hand I am making it look like a jack-o-lantern! The pattern is on ravelry and funny enough others have knitted this!! and they are all hilarious. I am using different yarns red heart, bernat and nature spun..just oddballs so we will see how it turns out!

Just finished watching Letters to Juliet very nice movie kind of romantic but more of a journey. I would like to read the book I think. I do not think it is a movie for men they would just yawn unless they are romantic enough to enjoy it LOL. There is not to much humor in it just a well thought story.

It is mid-September and the weather is cooling down fast, the leaves are getting ready to change colors you can practically feel the change of seasons its wonderful. It is definately time to knit for winter I am frantic trying to list what I want to have finished before the cold comes in.

Sew Night!

Tonight was open sew night at my local quilt shop. My aunt and our long time family friend Debbie showed up. It was a blast and Dianne (who is Debbie's sister) I know what your getting for your birthday!! Ha Ha I can't tell you what it is either.

I personally was working on another block to the civil war diary quilt it took me a couple hours to finish it because the pieces were so darn small but it is done and on to the next one.

Also a fellow quilter revealed she was a farmville junkie!! yay another farmville friend for me.

Serious if you havent played do not start unless you want to become obsessed!
I am at level 66 and I am dedicated LOL

Hey does anyone know about the moon phases this week, I heard somewhere that we are suppose to have 2 moons? what is up with that, I am going to have to do some research and see if I should be moon gazing this week or not.

This was a quick knit, took me less than an hour today. I knitted this for myself for winter when I am outside scraping the ice off the car to keep my face warm. Well guess what my son snatched it and decided it was soooo cool so it is officially his. Then my mother decided she wanted one so now I have to make two more when there I was minding my own business thinking I was going to knit myself a quick project blah...

Diary Quilt & Knit Cowl

Last night was open sew night at my local quilt shop. I have currently been working on the Civil War Diary Quilt which is foundation paper piecing (extremely addicting)

This quilt is from the book Civil War Diary Quilt, there is a quilt block on each page with a diary entry from ladies of the civil war era. It is a very interesting read or I should say some of the diary entries are funny some are sad and some are unbelievable what these ladies lived through.

Above is a picture of the book and one of the quilts made each block tells a story! There are 11 blocks to each row and 11 rows. Personally I am finishing up the first row whoohoo. I will have pics soon. There is another book out that is called Civil War Love Letters which I cannot wait to read.

This morning at 8am I casted on for the "My Kind of Town Cowl" which can be found on ravelry or at www.http://ttwcreative.blogspot.com/2009/02/new-free-cowl-pattern.html

It is made out of super bulky yarn on a US17, I am using Encore Mega acrylic/wool yarn. This cowl takes 2 balls, already finished the first ball and am working on the second one now.
It is done in garter stitch which would normally bore me to tears but since it knits up so quickly on big needles it is not boring at all! Check out her website on all the different ways to wear this.

I promise soon I will have pics, currently no batteries (keep forgetting to buy some)

Favorite Animal

I must admit my favorite animal is a Flamingo. They have such a pretty vibrant color and they balance their big round bodies on one leg!! How cool is that! Anyway today on ravelry a new pattern was added and I just giggled I am sharing the pic here and the website link to get the free pattern at www.spudandchloe.com

Adorable stuff!! She has other animals and the cutest knit clothes.

This past week I went to my son's school for registration he is in the 7th grade!! That is totally blowing my mind I remember him going to 1st grade like yesterday.

Next week we have open house which means I get to meet the teachers and find out what sort of school supplies he needs. Then the 18th SCHOOL STARTS!!! we are both excited summer was boring and hot so hot it was miserable to do anything.

Just let me go on record that Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons. I definately do not mind the cold as long as it is not ice and snow.

Another new thing in my life is losing weight! Blah my brother has me on a protein diet and now I have to walk to treadmill daily. So if I see any weight loss I will definately share.

Would you believe that I just forgot about blogging?
Would you believe that I just didnt have any time to blog in the last year?
Would you believe that I was abducted by aliens and just now returned to planet earth?

Hmmm well how about I was just plain lazy and kept myself occupied with other things and I just well frankly forgot about blogging, I got wrapped up on ravelry, then facebook damn Farmville anyway (completely addicted) then all my crafty endeavors. Yes I know this is excuse after excuse but heck what can I say.

I wanted to scrapbook but decided it is to involved (wayyy to much stuff to involve myself into scrapbooking) then I remembered my trusty blog so I am back and hopefully I can stay on track either posting by day/night or at least once a week.

I do have to say I have learned some new crafty skills I will share with you all.
Some fabulous new books out there I think everyone should know about.
Of course all those movies I devoured I must tell you what I think on those.

My big thing right now is that school will be starting in about 3 weeks and my son will be out of my hair for the day whoohoooo!!!

I know its been forever since I blogged but life has been one big upside down ride lately. Hopefully I am back into swing of things, especially since I have been knitting again.

Very simple idiot knitting when you are on the go. It's actually a quick knit as well. I used Plymouth Jeannee Cotton/Blend worsted weight on size US8 I think the next one I make with be out of a DK weight yarn. This was very drapey.

Wow it has been almost a month since I have blogged bad bad bad. Not that much has been happening, my son went away to camp for a week leaving me a basket-case till he returned LOL
I always say I can't wait for him to go to camp and when he does I can't do anything but think of my baby until he gets back I'm pathetic.

Oh I have to tell you about my new beginning. Today was my first day excersizing, or I should say I walked for 30mins and my brother worked me out on the weights for 10mins. But its a beginning I have to do this every day until I am welllll no longer plumpy lol. So everyone wish me luck. I am going to try to think of it along with my knitting I am to work out then before I go to bed knit at least 2 shells of my shawl. So I have a plan, it's a good plan and I am determined so in a month I will post my excersize progress lol hopefully its good news.

Yes folks I have a toothache, has to be one of the worst things to have other than an earache. I will be going in July 8, for a root canal and crow ughhhhhhh that sucks.

But with this throbbing in my jaw I have been concentrating on knitting so that I can try to forget the pain. I forgot to take a picture but its called the Zig Zag Scarf by Lion Brand its a free pattern, it turned out cute specially with self striping yarn. You all should try it.

I went fishing with my family over the weekend and caught numerous blue gill and I caught my FIRST EVER bass fish.. I was so excited of course my pole broke and I had to grab hold of the fishing line and hand pull it in *lol* I was a mess.

I also met my brother's new girlfriend she was really nice I liked her alot. which is always a plus since she has three kids and is a couple years older but my brother seems so happy with her and they are adorable together. It was fun watching them.

I know its been awhile since I last posted, but I was in the mist of moving. I have temporarily moved in with my brothers for the summer. I won't go into all the details but its been a hectic mess. But I am settled in and back to knitting. So I had to show off my new project I am working on it is called "Girasole by Jared Flood" it is a circular shawl / blanket if you use fingering its a shawl if you use worsted its a nice size blanket. Of course I am doing worsted because I am eager to see this finished. So far I love the pattern very well written easy to follow very simple graphs. A beginner could easily follow this.

I am also using some cheap yarn called "I love this yarn" its acrylic but its a soft worsted and I want it durable and washable so I am eager to see how this will turn out I am on a US 10.5 needle.

Mothers, Flu, President, Addis

I finally got over a nasty case of the flu my son had it and passed it along to me, so I didnt get a chance to tell you all my opinion of the president visiting our school.
First my son thought it was cool to see all the law enforcement, secret service, military and so forth.
For me it was kind of scary we all know where ever the president goes there is a risk, so my thought would be why bring that risk to a school where there are so many kids in abundance why not another local spot we have plenty!
Another thing that really ticked me off was the protestors. They were protesting abortions at the opening of the school they were waving big pictures of unborn babies. It was horrible the pictures they were waving around, my son doesnt even know what an abortion is and he seen those pics and started asking questions and kind of upset. Now mind you I agree everyone has the right to protest, but I would think when its something of that nature and there are elementary school age children around you wouldnt be so disgusting about it.
So after all of that and going through the security checks to drop my child off at school, I was not thrilled at all in fact I almost just kept him out of school but he was to excited about what was going on.
So yeah the president coming to our city was impressive, the location not so impressive and the followers--protestors a big problem for me.

Ok enough of that quick shout out to all the MOTHERS!!! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY may you all have a lovely relaxing day tomorrow.

Now on to the new addi turbo click needles.. Not my favorite in fact I have some major issues well actually just one issue.
I push my stitches up along the needle and when I push I end up pushing the cable/needle part that clicks into place and kept unlocking my needle, it happened so many times I switched them out so now I am staring at these addi clicks with a frown wondering what to do with them since I doubt I will be knitting on them much if at all. Anyone else with that problem?

President's Arrival

First let me tell you what kind of craziness is going on around here. I live 1 minute away from school where my son attends heck I am practically in their back yard. We just found out that the freaking PRESIDENT is visiting Fox School here in Arnold, MO tomorrow. What kind of weird is that!! I had to get a pass to drop my son off tomorrow so all the law enforcement know I am not a weirdo *lol* I can just imagine how bad the traffic is going to be. The President will be landing in our football field!!

Ok now that I told you the weird news here is my finished project a crochet bag that took me one evening is that cool or what I had this finished in no time. I don't know what I am going to do with it. I just wanted to see if I could crochet the darn thing. It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.

New Addis!!!! Ohh La La

They are finally here!!! My new addi's I am so excited, the interchangable needles are awesome they push twist and click into place. The cable is super flexi and it comes in a nice case. I am so drooling over them.

I have been waiting forever for these babies. I am casting on something new just to use them *lol* Addi's are my faves then Knit Picks. I'm not a wooden, bamboo, type of gal. I'm all for the slick metals . hehehe ok now that I have shown them off I am gonna go play with them.

Happy Easter!
I hoped everyone had a lovely Easter. We had a family breakfast and we all went home and became lazy for the rest of the day. It's been perfect!

Here are a few projects that I have finished nothing fancy but here they are. The first one is just a stash bag, I used up a skein of plymouth galaway chunky in a quick hand bag.

This next purse is from the book Bags A Knitter's Dozen, Three For The Road, it wasnt suppose to be felted but then again I was using up some stash and went ahead and felted it, I think I need to make a larger one, the design is pretty dang cool but this is a little on the small size for me.

And last but not least is crochet slippers, I love these slippers they are doubled soles and really fun to make, I am a beginner crocheter and this pattern was perfect, I have another pair in the works by far my favorite!

Itty Bitty Dolls

These are so cute, I have been practicing to crochet and this is what I have accomplished. These are 5"baby dolls I mean they nestle in the palm of your hand. The book is called Itty Bitty Babies and they have adorable clothes to crochet for them. Each doll has a different expession. You can't help but go awwwwwwww how cute.

Ok I have a ton more things to show you all but I am at work and well I gotta get working before I get in trouble *lol*

This is what happens in our family when April Fool's Day comes around. 3am and me and my son was plastering post it notes to my Uncle's car hahahahaha

Not only did he get post it notes on the car. He had a chain of post it notes linked together wrapped in place where the toilet paper was suppose to be, also the toilte had suran wrap in place hehehehe, we also filled his medicine cabinet with candy so that when he opened it, candy flooded out. and last but not least we filled all of his pillows with crumpled up paper so that when he laid down CRUNCH!!!! Poor uncle he was glad when april fool's day was over.

Friday Night

Well its friday night and I'm home blogging, surfing the net, and of course knitting.
My son is currently at the skating rink in which I have to pick him up at 11pm.

Not much has been going on except being strapped for cash. Of course I don't think I am the only one with money troubles it seems to be an epidemic. So for those that are struggling I am right there with you.

No yarn purchases *gasp* I am making do with my stash yarn. Thank god for having a stash *lol* No new book purchases yep I have a book stash, and I don't mind re-reading a few good books. So I am holding on.

So for those peeps that yell at you for having to much yarn or books or other much loved objects now you can laugh at them and say seeeee this is what having a stash is for. For when you can't spend the cash you have to have a fall back plan.

So for those that are worrying about having to much stash hey I'm all for it!! You can never have to much. *lol*

Oh so I don't forget my much loved movie "Twilight" will be out tomorrow whoohoo I am so excited.

Boobs and Movies

Ok I have searched and searched for the boob scarf trying to find where to get it apparently its available in China and no where else *lol* I do know its made out of fabric but that is about it, so I guess all you crafty people out there will have to figure out how to make your own!

So far its been a busy weekend.
Friday Night: My son had a late night skate from 7pm to 1am and even though I am still young at heart my sleep meter is much older I am not made to stay up that dang late. I kept awake though by going to the movies and watching not one but two shows

1st Movie: Escape to Witch Mountain---It was ok kind of on the cheesy side I could see the 12 and under kids likeing it though.
2nd Movie:Last House on the Left very gruesome! very realistic! this is one of those movies that could happen in real life ----lets just say it gave me nightmares about this happening.
Found out that this movie is a remake from and older version. The plot is below.
After kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women, a gang led by a prison escapee unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging the parents of one of the victims -- a mother and father who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a movie for the faint of heart or for kids at all!

So after an all nighter today my son was at the district choir practice and had to perform a concert at 2pm so while he was singing I took a quick look at the school craft fair then hurried home and slept to 1:45pm and made a mad dash back to the school to watch the concert.
Came back home and both of us including our dog gigi crashed again *lol*
So needless to say I havent done much in the way of knitting, cleaning or reading.

Doiley Adventure In Progress

This is what I have so far on the doiley adventure. I must say one thing, I abosolutely love how this is turning out, it will have to be starched and dried to keep shape but awesome. Another thing for those that have not attempted a doiley before is to knit it in a quiet area because those stitches are easy to lose track of. The actual pattern is extremely simple if you know how to slip 1, psso, k2tog and yo thats all there is to it.
Another thing that is making this extremely easy is the Knit Pick Needles, I have the set and have been in love with the cable ever since. It's smooth and flexible, I started out on addi's and I hate to say the cable had to much of a spread between the stitches, and if you do not know what I am talking about its the Magic Loop method I am using to knit this. The softness of the Knit Picks needle is perfect for this delicate knitting.

Ok I was finally talked into giving doilies a try. I mean I really have no use for doilies but I think they are gorgeous, I just personally have no place for them in my home unless I wrap it up and store it away as a cherished heirloom which I have done on numerous projects *lol*. But still as a knitter I have to go on a knitting adventure and this is it. So I have casted on for a knitted doily. Anyone ever knitted one? Please share the do's and dont's, I will be posting a pic very soon of what I have done so far. Movie Update: I seen "He's Just Not That Into You" definately a chick flick but dang it makes so much sense now, when guys say they are gonna call and they don't HA..typical. Girls I think you will enjoy the movie, guys don't bother. Otherwise I am giving this movie a "B" rating it was good.

The above pics is of my darling GiGi who is a 10month old yorkie she is showing off her new cape I knitted from stash yarn (STASH BUSTER) I am not fond of the colors but it gives me an excuse to go buy some pretty yarn now.

This blanket knitted up in one evening through American Idol!!!!! My aunt wanted this for her little dog Missy so here is missy posing today with her new blanket. I think these make great pet blankets they are acrylic easy to care for and easy to knit. How simple is that.

So I told you I had some pictures so please be patient if it takes a minute to load them.

First picture is something I've been playing around with, can any of you guess what it is? *lol* Paint By Number! it's been years since I've done them so I am in the mood again to weild a paintbrush. It looks pretty good so far if I do say so myself.

The next is a shawl I am working on designed by my local yarn store owner it's a Farose? darn I don't know if its spelled right, but there is the pic. I am using 8ply Wool Pak HandPaints

Next that is currently being worked on is a pair of socks. I have stopped at the ribbing because I am still trying to decide what type of pattern it should have. The yarn is brand new called Mini Moochi you can see the yarn colors at www.straw.com its new for 2009 the colors are awesome.

And last but not least is a hat I'm designing, found a fun stitch pattern out of one of my many stitch books and decided to see how it will do. I am using worsted weight wool.

Oh I do have a pair of fair isle mittens I am knitting on but blogger wont let me load any more pics *lol* so I will save that for another day.!

By the way.. Another valentine card has found its way to me and its adorable and I even got a hand made book mark.. love love love it.

Ragamuffin Hat

RAGAMUFFIN HAT by Plumpy
1 Skein Manos del Uruguay Pure Wool
16” circular US10 and US11 needles and US11 double points
Place Marker for Beg of Round
Gauge: 3sts = 1 inch
Finished Size: 19” to 23”
(This hat stretches to fit a variety of sizes)
Ribbing: With smaller needles cast on 72sts place marker for beginning of the round and join being careful not to twist your stitches. (I used the long tail cast on method)
*K1, P1* for 1 ½ inches to 2 inches
Hat: Change to larger needles.
*P3, K10, P10, K10, P6, K10, P10, K10, P3*
Repeat until hat measures 8” to 8 ½” from cast on edge.
(Do not turn the hat inside out to do the bind off. The raw edge makes it look ragamuffin and the corners are pointy for the tassels)
Bind Off: Place the first 36sts on a double point needle and the last 36sts on another double point needle. Holding them parallel *knit 2sts together by knitting into the first stitch on both needles*. You should have 1st on LHN. Repeat once more then slip the 1st on LHN over the 2nd st making one bind off. Repeat from * to * then bind off 1st. Continue in this manner until all stitches are bound off.
Now you can add tassels or pompoms to the corners.
FINISHED!

FLAT TIRE

Yesterday I had a flat tire on the interstate. So I eased my car over
to
the shoulder of the road, carefully got out of the car and opened the
trunk.

I took out 2 cardboard men, unfolded them and stood them at the rear of
my 20
car facing oncoming traffic. They look so lifelike you wouldn't believe!
They are in trench coats, exposing their nude bodies and private parts
to the
approaching drivers.

I started to change my tire, and to my surprise, cars started slowing
down
looking at my lifelike men. And of course, traffic started backing up.
Everybody was tooting their horns and waving like crazy. It wasn't long
before a state trooperpulled up behind me.

He got out of his car and started walking towa
rds me. I could tell he
was
not a happy camper!

"What's going on here?"

"My car has a flat tire," I said calmly.

"Well, what are those obscene cardboard men doing here by the road?"

I couldn't believe that he didn't know. So I told him,

"Hello-o-o-o-o-o,
those are my emergency flashers!"

Hiya Bloggers, have you noticed the blog change..well thats because plumpy is in the mood for love! *lol* actually I've just been in a valentine mood with all the red pink white black I've been seeing in stores. I sadly do not have a sweetheart unless you consider my 11yr old chaserman he always gets me a valentine card ain't that sweet!.

I did see the movie My Bloody Valentine 3D as I suspected the actual story line was cheesy!! But who cares about the story when you want blood guts and 3D and that movie had it in abundance. My mother, son, brother and myself went and seen this. All of us agreed the story sucked the actors were cute (me and mother said) the 3D was freaking awesome what else would have you jumping in your seat except for a bullet coming straight at your head or a pick ax being thrown your way! The GORE oh yes this movie had some shocking blood and guts scenes and it did not show just flashes it showed full out ripped open chest and half bodies and eyes popping out.
So if your in the mood for blood guts and 3D this is a fun movie to go see. But please don't be dissapointed in the story line! I warned you!

Ok now for the movie.. anyone going to see the 3D Valentine Horror Movie? you all know i'll be there! I have never seen a 3D horror movie they have always been kids movies so I am really excited scary movies are my favorite.

Tomorrow we have 0 degree weather so of course the kiddo is off school what a bummer *laughs* just kidding he's a good kid I'll be hauling him to work with me.
Today was my brother's birthday he turned 27 today! Happy Birthday Ryan. He's one of those people that can't stand the thought of getting older heck he calls me old and I'm 30!

DID YOU KNOW?

Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to
pick the little 'stringy things' off of it. That's how the primates do it.

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store.
If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster..

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil.
It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.
Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef.
It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.
To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of
spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints
in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste
of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply
chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them
in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350
for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm!
Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low
and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on
the cooking channel and it really works.

Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal,
keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly,
cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer
for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes
with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.

Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in
a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food
moist and help it reheat faster.

Newspaper weeds away
Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers,
put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and for-
get about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not
get through wet newspapers.

Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.

No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket.
It will keep the mosquitoes away.

Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper.
The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

Flexible vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel
roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in nar-
row openings.

Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt
or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose.
Place pin in seam of slacks and ... ta da! ... static is gone.

Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water.
Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such
as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.
Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of
your car . When the window s fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!
Reopening envelope
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside,
just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals
easily.

Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and
leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you
bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair.

Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar
and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the
cup and gone forever!

Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't
digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works
and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

INFO ABOUT CLOTHES DRYERS
The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the
house for us told us that he wanted to show us something and he went over to the
dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the fil-
ter after every load clothes.) He told us that he wanted to show us something; he
took the filter over to the sink and ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a
mesh material ... I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. Well ...
the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn't go through it at all! He told us
that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh that's what burns out the heating unit.
You can't SEE the film, but it's there. It's what is in the dryer sheets to make your
clothes soft and static free ... that nice fragrance too. You know how they can feel
waxy when you take them out of the box . well this stuff builds up on your clothes
and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to potentially burn your
house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very long
time (and to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out and wash it with
hot soapy water and an old toothbrush (or other brush) at least every six months.
He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that!?!
Learn something new everyday! I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that.
So, I thought I'd share!

Note: I went to my dryer and tested my screen by running water on it. The water ran
through a little bit but mostly collected all the water in the mesh screen. I washed it
with warm soapy water and a nylon brush and I had it done in 30 seconds.. Then when
I rinsed it ... the water ran right thru the screen! There wasn't any puddling at all! T
hat repairman knew what he was talking about!

I don't feel so bad..
I LOVE THE Wii... I play tennis and ping ball all the time wellll at least when my son is busy elsewhere hahehe....
Whoever thought up the Wii is a genius not to mention very profitable all the gadgets that you just have to have well lets just say it the man is rolling in the dough!
My son just bought the light saber swords for Star Wars I was actually allowed to battle him..and well I am not so good at the fighting swords YET!

I am finally getting over a nasty cold that had a hold of my nose for over a week now.. The knitting was in hibernation till this bug was gone..I am now finally casting on for my valentine's bag whoohoo.

I sure do hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, my family and I did it was a lazy day.
You can see below my son and gigi were passed out after playing with their presents *lol*

Arent' they cute they slept most of the day which gave me time to play with my son's toys hehehe I snuck in his room and played with the WII game how fun that thing is I am completely addicted to rock band.

I did get some knitting done but no pics yet.. I blocked my shawl it looks gorgeous *patting myself on the back* and also finished a matching hat.

I am trying to finish up the rambling rows jacket I am working on the button band and I have to go buy more yarn to finish the sleeves and it will be finished this jacket has taken me 2 years to complete just for the fact I would get bored with all those garter rows (that is what the whole jacket is made up of) garter garter garter blahhhhh but I didnt quick and it shall be finished by the new year! whoohoo.
You know what else I am ashamed to admit I started the irish hiking scarf back when it came out and got half way and put it away so that is like what 3 years or more? yep I think that is another project I need to finish.
But I am in the mood for felted bags so we will see.

It took me 2 evenings it was very quick knit and so much fun.

My son absolutely loves it.

Only thing I would do differently on the pattern it states about not having to pick up and knit the wraps on the short rows of the mouth because the rolled brim hides it.. well not really.

I would definately knit the wraps just to give it a cleaner line.

But otherwise fun and easy. I will be making me one in pinks I think.

This was a knit a long with my Friday Night Knit Club

The pattern actually called for fingering weight yarn.

The few that finished with the fingering weight the size of the shawl was very small.

It was dissapointing, my turned out a bit bigger since I was using worsted weight but still not as big as I was hoping this is more the size of a capelet.

I did enjoy the pattern very simple basic yarn overs.

This shawl will be raffled off at my mom's shop.

I hope everyone likes it, took me a month to knit *lol* with 370 stitches to purl *eweee*

Not that I am taking a trip any time soon but its nice to check out yarn shops websites to see what they have.

So today is Tuesday, and my son is off from school as he was yesterday due to the weather *sigh sigh* now he is feeling sick so not only do we not have school, my kiddo is getting a cold. My mother's and my brother's cars both of them are broken so I am playing taxi today as well. It just hasnt been going well.

Ok so I have been surfing on the web tonight and found something really interesting or maybe just interesting to me and I just found out about it and everyone already knew about it *lol*

well I found another site similar but I am liking it alot more! It's called www.artfire.com
now please tell me if you all have seen it before because here I am thinking I found something new! *lol*

Also have you all been to www.craftbits.com ? If not go check it out they actually have some fun and interesting projects to try.
For example: I know how to make the glue from an envelope you know the stuff you lick and it sticks well the directions are on the website not that I have a need for envelope glue but thought it was interesting to know.

Also has anyone made paper snow flakes lately? I made one tonight using a tutorial on www.instructables.com just search for paper snow flakes..very fancy snowflakes in a very simple way to do.

Ok one last thing back to the craftbits website. You know those people that always say they want nothing when you ask them what they want for christmas or their birthday..well that just annoys me..so there is a gift to make them from www.craftbits.com called the "Jar of Nothing" with a funny little saying how they finally got what they wanted a jar of nothing !

Fisherman Hat

Happy Holidays!

This was an interesting morning, as I start the car to defrost the ice I find that my car door would not close! I had to get my son to hold the door closed as I drove to my lovely auto mechanic who then got a screw-driver and popped the locking mechanism open..boy did I fell like a dunce I could have did that at home if I was thinking instead of freezing my tush off.

Got my son to school just barely on time, so now I am home enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee (with cream and sugar).

Is everyone ready for Christmas, I am ready for the holiday rush to be over I just want to enjoy the new year.. wow 2009 that is crazy.

Ok that is enough idle chit chat, let me talk about this hat.

This was a 2 hour hat with bulky yarn and 10.5 needles.
I have to admit it looks a little funny but I enjoyed knitting this, the short rows for the ears and neck was fun. I had to add some stitches so that it was large enough. This hat is being donated to the children's orphanage.

I will make another one as this was super quick to knit!

Oddly enough folks, I havent went to the movies lately, you know the whole saving up for christmas thing. I did see the movie Twilight..I am a huge fan of the movie and the book series. Other than that I havent seen anything.

Also books havent read much either wow am I boring or what? I do have more knitting to show and I will get to that sometime this week.

Hats on the Head

Hats Hats Hats...yep I am in the mood for hats or at least my son is.
My most recent finished 2 hour project is this blue/green hat below.
A very very quick knit I mean 2sts to the inch it better be quick
This hat is from the book "Knit On Down" love the book has some classic patterns that any knitter can do.

Don't mind the weird faces my son just loves posing for the camera *lol*

Now the black hat was from the book "Hats On" by Charlene Schurch it was suppose to have a white star on top but I was in a hurry considering my son wanted it right away! So a 2 night knit and voila my son has another hat.

I do have two projects that are a must get done by christmas.. which are Rambling Rows Jacket and a Circular Shawl. They are both more than half way done so it shouldnt be a problem.

With christmas looming closer and closer I am getting so stressed considering I havent bought any presents for my sweet son above yikes.. I'm a bad mom!!

Ok enough of that.. I seen the movie "TWILIGHT" love love love it.. but you must read the book first before seeing the movie..you just wont get the emotion and the whys if you dont...

But excellent I am hoping they make the sequel movies soon.

October 21st I went to Houston, TX for the international fall quilt market show.
This was my first airplane ride, my first cab ride, my first everything all by myself!
I know I live in my own little world here in missouri, don't get me wrong I have traveled but always by car *lol*

So the trip to the air port can we say that the airport shuttles need shocks! I think I bounced on my butt the whole way there. I traveled Southwest Airlines, the airport itself was interesting it looks just like a shopping mall a place to spend all your money as I try not to think about the big plane I am about to board. The seats way to small the gum I chewed so my ears would pop was a permanent fixture in my mouth the whole time..my ears throbbed till I got back home!
I had turbulance all the way to TX which was freaky.

The cab to the hotel was like flying I think he sped the whole way there!! Gotta love those cabbies for making great time. *lol*

The hotel I stayed at was shaped like a triangle it gave you the fun house effect as you stared over the balcony this pic was of the glass elevators that ran to the very top you can see outside and inside as you ride on those super fast flyers and I do mean fast you feel your stomache drop to the floor when you ride in them.

Here was the booth I was working at. I was pushing some great pattern books. I have to say we did great business while we were there.

Here was the booth across from us..the quilts are just gorgeous not to mention it was run by a family of hot hot hot blond hunks from some other country never did get the country denmark maybe?

So at the show I didnt get to much of a chance to walk the many foot ball fields long rows of quilts..lets just say people got talent!!!!! I immediately came home and wanted to sew *lol*

Well my 30th birthday flew past...turning 30 was easy *at least thats what I keep telling myself*
Anyway, some news I will be leaving tomorrow for Houston, TX for the Fall Quilt Market Show. It's for work and let me tell you what a fun job.

Ok so here is the big news *lol* this will be my first time flying ever! and by myself. I am nervous and excited and more nervous. I will definately be bursting with news when I come back which will be Monday night. Everyone wish me luck on my adventure.

As for craft news I havent knitted anything lately because I started quilting a handbag I will show pics soon this is only my second quilting project I have done but so far its very interesting it has kept my attention so far.

My mom will be staying at my place to watch over my son this weekend.. I'm sure they will have lots of fun and get into lots of trouble *lol* I will be missing the yearly Apple and Butter Festival in Kimmswick, MO thousands of people flock to it..I'm so bummin hopefully they will eat alot take pics and buy me something crafty *lol*

Comfy on the Head Hat

Comfy on the Head Hat

My son wanted a hat that was super comfy on the
head. Something that just felt good and comfy.
A hat he could wear anywhere and he wouldn’t even
realize he had a hat on.
Please note you can easily adjust this hat by
adjusting the needle size or even the yarn used.

This is a beginner pattern you do need to know
how to knit in the round either on double points
or circular needles.

Also note this has not been test
knitted so if you find any mistakes
please let me know.
I will be casting on a second hat
soon but till then this is my basic
pattern.
Materials: US7 & US10 ½ circular needle
1 Ball: Plymouth Galway Worsted (210yrds) 100%Wool
1 Ball: Sock Yarn (any will do or even scraps or leftovers)
Advice: If the brim is to small go up a needle size, if the brim is to big go down a needle size.
You can also adjust how many stitches you cast on as well
This hat fits a 19” to 20” head very comfortable it is not tight at all but has just a little snug to keep it on.

Ribbing: With US7 needle and one strand of Galway Worsted,
Cast On 100sts, and place marker for beg of round, join being careful not to twist your stitches.
*K1, P1* around until you have 2”
Hat Body: Change to US10 ½ needle and one strand of Galway Worsted and 1 strand of Sock Yarn.
Knit in the round for 2” or until the hat measures 4” from cast on edge
Next Round: *K2, K2tog* around
Knit in the round for 2”
Next Round: *K2, K2tog* around
Knit in the round for 1 ½”
Next Round: *K1, K2tog* around
Knit Two Rounds
Next Round: *K2tog* around
Knit One Round
Next Round: *K2tog* around
Cut Yarn and draw through remaining stitches tug tight and weave in ends.

Two Butts Better Than One

Last night I looked up from my knitting and this is the sight that caught my eye. Two butts in the air!! I just thought this was hilarious my son Chase and our lil GiGi ass in the air at the same time.

If you notice like a typical male whitie tighties are obviously seen *lol*
After the click of the camera of course my son and dog wanted to actually pose. Arent they cute!

Ok enough gushing, I am finishing up a beret that I think I am absolutely gonna love to wear for fall and winter..will show pics tonight.

So here is my lil GiGi she will be 6months on October 2..isnt she adorable she is a yorkshire terrier and absolutely spoiled!!! the Halloween dress was a gift from her Nana. and the freaky striped dress was knitted by me tonight I was trying out the Black Dress pattern and love the pattern but didnt like my yarn color but I did use up yarn from my stash.. I will be knitting this again in some pretty girly yarn.

I am still working on my faux interlax scarf/wrap it is taking a bit longer than I expected but hopefully this week I will have it finished keep your fingers crossed for me.

Winter Scarves

Hey folks, here is another scarf that is fresh off the needles in the pic it wasnt blocked, but I did finally block it and it definately softened up thank goodness.
The pattern is called "Meandering Stripes" from the book "Knitting New Scarves" I have enjoyed that book immensely even though the pattern shows it in different colors I got to use up some of my stash this scarf was knitting using noro. This was a fun and quick knit for those looking for gifts to make.

Ok I have to say I fell in love with some yarn... Elegant Yarns called Kaleidoscope very very soft for 100%Wool its an upsun wool that comes in very bright colors. I just couldnt get over how soft it is. It also has a halo effect which I am lovin. Also I have not had any pilling either and trust me I have been feeling this yarn up ever since I started knitting with it *lol*
The pattern is called "Diagonal Scarf" by the On the Go Vogue Scarf Book this is a faux interlac pattern it should have been knitted in a solid color but I was anxious to knit with this yarn. Even though I love the yarn I am not sure I am liking the effect with this pattern but since I am almost halfway I am committed to seeing it finished its more of a wide scarf/wrap so mayhaps with a funky pin this might be something a very trendy person could pull off wearing we'll see. Keep your fingers crossed.

Oh I have to tell you all my birthday is coming up normally birthdays are not a big deal for me but this year its going to be the big 30..I'll keep telling myself its just another year *lol* no biggie.

I am still waiting very very impatiently for the Twilight movie to come out as I wait my mother and aunt is desperately wanting to see the chuahau(sp?)dog movie *lol* I am sooooo not wasting my money on that ..whoever goes let me know how it was.

Striped Wedges Scarf

Let me just say this was SUPER QUICK TO KNIT!! two nights of knitting and voila its done!.
This scarf is called "Striped Wedges" from the book Knitting New Scarves by Lynne Barr.
I used bulky yarn called Ironstone Colorchanges and a US13.. my scarf is slightly larger than what the pattern calls for but I wanted it a bit bigger and a bit airy. I think it turned out great. I was so excited with this scarf I immediately casted on for another scarf from this book called Meandering Stripes Scarf hopefully this will be another quick knit that I can show off tomorrow. I told myself I am knitting these as christmas gifts but being someone who lovesssss scarves I might end up keeping them *lol*

This series is from the book series "Sookie Stackhouse" by Charlaine Harris.

EXCELLENT!!! Must read the books then get caught up quick on the show series it is awesome.

Puppy Flower Power

Ok right off the bat...ARENT THOSE CUTE!!!!
So I have been venturing into crochet a bit more thanks to my mom..
She made these two flower power blankets for my dog and my aunt's dog.
Sadly my mother gave me the sunflower one with instructions on passing it along to my aunt.. ummm welllll I might be keeping it ..its just so darn cute!!
Well the cute lil puppy in both pictures is of my dog "GiGi" she is 4months now..and a stubborn lil turd at times *lol*
Ok back to this crochet thing..I started my own flower power blanket because I thought it was

just so cute I couldnt help myself..anyhow I just have a few more rounds on my own before adding petals and voila another crocheted project from a hardcore knitter *lol*
Actually I am enjoying crochet more and more I guess its just something different at least now I can bounce back and forth between it and knitting.

Yes I know I have been absent from my blog. But hey its summer its hard keeping up with everything that summer entails.
I will tell you this though, I have ventured into a new dimension.. CROCHET !! yep my aunt has dared me to crochet a bag with her. So voila that is what I have been working on..
It's called "Granny's No Square Bag" from the Happy Hooker.
Now mind you I have been enjoying the crochet but one can only make so many granny squares before I got BOREDDDD and my finger was hurting from the way I have to hold the yarn.. Anyway after I finish this bag I will not be crocheting for a LONG LONG LONG time to come.

Though....I do think every knitter should know the basics of crochet just to encorporate it into your knitting on seams and such.

Now let me admit that it seems I have more projects than ever on the needles from socks, to baby sweaters, to scarves and bags..its like never ending...I really really need to start finishing some things before the holiday season begins *lol*

Oh some movies that have been watched..."Hancock" it was ok wouldnt pay the money to go see it at the show though.
"Hellboy 2" my son loved it.. but then again he's 11yrs so go figure.
"Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" definately did not like the movie but the 3D was pretty cool.. stupid story and no acting whatsoever...definate two thumbs down.

Her sister who my aunt has ate an acorn so we have to wait and see about her..poor lil thing.
Anyway storms have been insane around here these past two weeks.. We had tornados flying past us..the school kept the kids for over an hour till it was safe. Of there I was sitting in my car at the bus stop talk about freak out!

Summer Is Here

After a slow and uncomplicated weekend.. it seemed Memorial Weekend was just a calm passing of time. For me its officially SUMMER!!! yay.. All I can think about is tanning, swimming, barbque's, sweating like a pig, cursing as you wait to cool the car down, yardwork (which I hate) lol, fun movies, snowcones late at night, and of course the bugs ewwwww..
Definately lots to look forward to this summer. Does anyone have something special planned? I really don't just gonna enjoy it as long as it lasts. I do think I feel the need to start focusing on fall and winter projects though because lets face it 3 months and we are in september if you think about it.. NO TIME AT ALL *lol*

I have been working on a UFO project that has been sitting on the needles long enough hopefully I will finish it within the next few days (crosses fingers).

My long awaited book is finally coming out tomorrow!! yayyy I'll be going to the bookstore first thing.. to buy "Blood Noir" by Laurell K Hamilton.. its the Anita Blake series..The bad thing is I have no self control I will read it within the day then I will have to wait another year for the next book.. that is how it is for alot of my book series of course a few of the authors will release 2 a year or release books to other series but your still waiting *lol* But thank god they keep spitting those books out I would be a nutcase without them.

Oh update my sweet dog GiGi was groomed today and she is so adorable if not a bit feisty!.

I finally watched a couple movies that have been on my list:

"P.S. I love you" I have to admit I cried in a few places ok more than a few, but I did enjoy the movie the actors/actresses were perfect. It was an interesting story and it touches the heart.

"Juno" I kept hearing what a great movie this was and always I just kept looking at it like no way. Well finally watched it last night. I have to say the main character Juno captured my attention from beginning to end.. loved her character, the story itself I am sure hits close to home to all of us teen mothers yeah I was a teen when I had my gorgeous child. But this movie was funny, and gives us alot of things to think about.

"Indiana Jones" was wonderful they stayed true to form as in all the other indiana jones movies and felt like it belonged in the series. Brought back fun memories and Harrison Ford was perfect as always and Shiloh played great as well.. Definately going to be added to my collection.

Here is my new baby!!!.. Her name is Gigi.. she is now 7weeks old. Aint she adorable!!!! She just got puppy shots today so she isnt in a good mood. But already my son and I are in love with her. So funny except for the yarn fetish she has which we will have to come to an understanding on that.. she weighs about 2lbs 2 ounces *lol* yep she is a lil thing.. But already I am searching for things to knit for her. So if you all have any puppy knit patterns pass them my way!!

I'm sick...*cough cough* I've been sick for a few days now.. started as allergies/flu/now I have bronchitis(sp?) it sucks... Not to mention we have a 6 week old puppy in the house.. which she is adorable but already has a yarn fetish she keeps digging out a ball of yarn from my knitting bag.. grrrrrrrr and I thought cats were the only pets that had yarn addiction.

I promise knitting updates soon.. I just havent felt like knitting while I am coughing my head off *lol*
Sooooooooooo I can tell you that I did see Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian... its alright.. no where near as good as the first one though.

I watched a couple dvds 27Dresses was pretty cute definately a chick flick but it had some funny moments and also the movie MadMoney was pretty darn good to.. enjoyed both of them of course Ive been loopy with medicine so my judgement is kind of off *lol*

Net Head Hat

I call this the net head hat... I knitted it out of SWTC OASIS the soysilk yarn which is very sleek and slippery..nice nice yarn.. casted on enough stitches for a hat did a 2x2 ribbing for about 2inches and then did the net stitch K2tog , YO and repeat making 1 stitch at the end of the round. Then knit a round.

I did the decreases without the knit rows because I wanted it to bunch up some just a little.

Its for when I twist my hair up into a bun or ponytail there is plenty of give to it.

So just a hat simple to do.

Tonight is school carnival night and its suppose to rain eeeeekkk pics will come soon of this event *lol*

Hey folks, for those of you that shop online..and shop at walmart, amazon, itunes, and a lot lot more. Would you go to Max Malls to access the stores?? Here's why.
Max Malls basically advertises around the world for people to shop at walmart (for example) so when a person goes to maxmalls and clicks the walmart link to get there. Max Malls gets a kickback commision for getting a customer to go to those stores.
The great thing about that is for those that are signed up with maxmalls as a independent advertiser gets a commision from MaxMalls.. SO PLEASE PLEASE go through max mall

Hey Everyone,
I know I am behind on my posting once again. But I do have some updates for you all.

At least movie wise!!

ADULTS ONLY: Must see Harold and Kumar Escape from Quatamata(sp?) Bay ..that was freaking hilarious!!!. If you remember the old Cheech and Chong movies (which I loved) this movie was like a modern day version much better than the first one of this series.

For Everyone: IRON MAN...was actually pretty darn good.. I can't wait for the second to this movie. Robert Downing Jr. was awesome he was the perfect actor for this character.
On a side note my son really enjoyed it.!

ARNOLD FELTED BAG

MATERIALS:
US11 circular, 10 1/2 Double Points
Stitch Marker, Stitch Holder
1 Ball (100% Pure Wool, 123yards) Galway Chunky by Plymouth (color blue)
1 Ball (100% Pure Wool, 123yards) Galway Chunky by Plymouth (color grey)
Gauge: 3 - 3.5 sts to 1inch
Size Before Felting: 13"Tall 12" Wide
Size After Felting: 10 1/2"Tall 11"Wide
Color A= Grey
Color B= Blue

Bottom of Bag US11, and color A
CO 12sts
Knit 50 rows in garter (knit every row)
After last row do not turn, with 12sts already on right hand needle, pick up and knit 24sts along side, then pick up and knit 12sts at end, and pick up and knit 24sts along last side, place marker for beginning of round.
Body of Bag
R1: Purl

R2: Knit
Color B: R3-R12: Knit 10 rounds.
Color A: R13-R17: Knit 5 rounds.
Color B: R18-R27: Knit 10 rounds.
Color A: R28-R32: Knit 5 rounds.

Color B: R33-R42: Knit 10 rounds.
Color A: R43-R47: Knit 5 Rounds.
Color A: Bind off 12sts, with 1stitch already on right hand needle, K23sts.
Place 24sts just knitted onto a stitch holder.
Bind off next 12sts, with 1 stitch already on right hand needle, Knit 23sts, turn Knit 24sts, turn Bind off 18sts, Knit 5, you should have 6sts on the needle.

Color B: On these 6sts knit a 30inch I-Cord using 10 1/2 double points.
(To Knit I-Cord: K6sts, do not turn, slide stitches to opposite end of same needle with yarn in back knit same stitches again and repeat until length is met)
BO and sew/attatch end of I-Cord at opposite end of edge on same side of bag.
Color A: with right side facing you. On remaining 24 stitches.
R1: Purl Across
R2: Knit Across
R3: K2, K3tog, K14, K3tog, K2
R4: Knit Across
BO 12sts purlwise.

Purl remaining 2sts, change to 10 1/2double points and knit a 3sts I-Cord for 7inches
BO and sew/attatch end of I-Cord at opposite end of edge on same side of bag.

(You should have a long handle on one side of the bag, and a short handle on opposite side of bag)

Weave in all ends and commence to felting.
In my experience Galway Yarn felts pretty quickly so I recommend checking it repeatedly during the felting process so as not to over felt your bag.

Spring is here

As I was passing by my aunt's house yesterday I noticed her tulips have bloomed. Arent they pretty so vibrant in color it made me smile and say "Spring is Here"!!!!
Update pics on the puppy my son got to play with them yesterday, they are 22 days old and already getting their own personalities.. My son has already picked out a name "GiGi Lee West" yep GiGi is what he is staying with.. I so wanted him to pick the name Gidget oh well it still works.

A Weird Time

It has just been weird lately. From floods, to earthquakes, to freakish thunderstorms and now HAIL!!

This morning while dropping my mom off at work, my poor car was attacked by hail hence the picture, I put the quarter there for effect *lol* imagine those things crashing into your window as your driving along.

My mom works right next to Home Depot, I was going to park under their Roof that hovers over the loading area but guess what..there was 50 other cars trying to do the same thing *lol*

So not just the weather is weird but there is just something in the air.. people or either tense and edgy or just plain well as I said WEIRD. Its like something is gonna happen but you just dont know what.

You know the saying that all the crazies come out on a full moon.. well it feels like we are having that full moon effect...hmmm go figure...I have to admit I have been antsy this past week as well as if I am waiting for something or wondering whats going to happen.

Anywayyyyy before I start freaking myself out this late at night let me change the subject *lol*

Did I mention I got a new cell phone a "Rumor" through sprint... I now have it set up so that I can start blogging through my mobile whoohooooo!!!! So expect alot more post from me.

My son's birthday is sunday he will be 11 years old and is wearing a size 10mens shoe.. *yikes* the kid has to stop growing I can't keep up. He did get a pedicure today as one of his yearly birthday rituals.. have you ever met another boy that likes pedicures!!! Really he only gets one once a year but he would get more if I would pay for them *lol* this is what happens when your mother/grandmother is a beautician all the co works dotes on your child.. but at least his feet are nice and soft and for the moment they dont STINK!!!

Killed with socks

Hey Everyone,
Just an update from my little part of the world. I was finally killed off in the sock contest see said picture of sock *lol* they are awesome they fit perfect! which is always a plus. So no longer do I have to worry about being killed by a pair of socks...wheww now I am concentrating on other things.

I did knit me up a quick headband out of katia cotton, just a simple cable twist with icord ties, I use it to keep my hair out of my face as I am scrubbing the dirt away *lol* it works perfect and takes like 30mins to knit, so yeah it was the perfect quick project for me.

Did ya all hear about the earthquakes we had here in missouri well I should say aftershocks hmm it started in Illinois and we felt them here.. It sure did freak me and my son out, the bed started shaking and the first thing that comes to mind is Tornado, then after I realize it wasnt storming I thought it must have been a couple of big diesal trucks that flew by *lol* I didnt found out till a couple hours later it was actually a freakin earthquake.. then about 10am we felt another one as they call it aftershocks..talk about a freakish day!!! Also on this ground shaking day my son scratched off a lotto scratch ticket and won $100 so of course I dropped him off at school and went to the gas station and turned it in.. I said what the heck and bought me some more scratches and guess what I won $500.00 talk about a happy day for me!!!!.. So I was a good mom and let my son have his hundred dollars back *lol* which he blew on toys.. and I spent mine on bills and a new cell phone. So that $600.00 went down the drain pretty darn quick but still overall it was a freakishly weird day.

Oh for movie update: We seen Nim's Island (it was cute but wait and watch it on video...so not worth the cost of a movie ticket)
Another movie we watched was: Forbidden Kingdom...this movie is definately one for the boys to watch!! and maybe a few gals as well.. It was great fighting but CLEAN fighting if you know what I mean... no blood or guts perfect for the younger boys. I have to admit I enjoyed it alot.
I am currently waiting for the movie: Journey to the center of earth in 3D with Brendan Fraiser whoohooo its gonna be awesome.

Here's a thought have you all noticed all the vintage knit patterns that have been flooding the knitting world lately hmmm maybe its only me noticing...let me know..

Sock Showdown

My local yarn shop hosted a Sock Showdown Contest similar to sockwars.

Of course I had to join along with my aunt.

The sock pattern is called "Roping Horse Socks" by the shop owner Georgia Druen who just happens to have a few beautiful sweaters published in Knit N Style so check her out. If you are on ravelry her nic is gnittinguru *lol*

Anyway back to the contest my aunt and I pretty much competed against each other to get these done which apparently worked because she finished first (winning the fastest sock knitter prize of $75.00) and I finished second so we killed off our unsuspecting victims now we are just waiting for the others to finished so we can see who is the last one standing.. i hope its me! I don't want to be killed off but then again I do want a pair of socks *lol* Oh I knitted these socks out of fleece artist.. love love love the yarn wish I would have saved it for myself I have yarn envy now. But I think they did turn out pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

On other news of my life. My furnace is broken and it just happens to stop working when it drops into the 30degree weather so my son is hogging the heating blanket and the space heaters. So I look like the snowman from the northpole with all the layers I am wearing. So I am currently saving money for the furnace guy. Thankfully warmer weather is on the horizon.

Exciting news my son turns 11years old on the 27th this month he is getting so big its making me miss the baby years. Then he brings to my attention "Hey Mom only 5 years till I drive" can I scream now!!! I very much have sympathy with the mother's of new teen drivers talk about stressful and I still have 5years well I just wont think about that just yet.

Oh let me give a huge huge huge THANK YOU to my knitting buddy Purlescene she sent me the cutest softest sheep slippers ever!! they are currently warming my feet from frost bite. She also sent me a ball of Loop de Loop yarn its awesome trying to think of what to knit with it even as I type this *lol*

If you havent noticed I changed the colors of my blog once again and I am still not satisfied but it will do for now. Also I added some new links to the sidebar check them out.

Puppies, Aliens, Feet

I wish I could say this was a story about an alien puppy with large feet but its not *lol*

Let me first tell you about puppies Emma the mommie just had puppies on April 2. Little yorkies arent they cute!! Well my chaserboy gets to pick one as a birthday present yayyyyy Our first puppy!! So here are a few pics of the process.

So I am ready to knit for a puppy now!

Ok next is the Alien Washcloth. The alien is from the Stitch n Bitch Alien Scarf I used the chart for the alien head and used dk cotton and made a washcloth for son he loves it! I have to make more but I want something girly now for myself *lol*

Ok now for the feet reference. I am doing the Sock Showdown Contest at my local yarn shop..It's a cabled sock pattern very very cute but dang I am stilly knitting on them!!!! It seems like they are taking me forever thankfully no one has one yet so I still have a fighting chance buy my aunt already has one done and working on the second so now I am sweating on my needles.. we will see how it goes I'll post pics of them finished.
